Google announces Project Tango smartphone
Google has built a prototype Android smartphone that can learn and map the world around it. The device comes from a new initiative called Project Tango, and it's ready to get the phone into developers' hands to see what the technology is capable of. Google says that the phone will learn the dimension of rooms and spaces just by being moved around inside of them — walking around your bedroom, for example, would help the phone learn the shape of your home. The hope is that by creating a robust map of the world, Google's phone could eventually give precise directions to any given point that needs to be reached.
It's an ambitious project, but that should be no surprise given who it's coming from:Tango comes out of the Advanced Technology and Projects group — one of the few pieces of Motorola that Google has opted to hang on to rather than sell. "The goal of Project Tango is to give mobile devices a human-scale understanding of space and motion," says Johnny Lee, leader of Project Tango. Google has 200 devices that it's preparing to give out to developers who want to build mapping tools, games, and new algorithms that take advantage of the phone's sensors, and it expects to send them all out by March 14th.
Google today announced Project Tango, an Android-based prototype 5″ phone and developer kit with advanced 3D sensors out of its Advanced Technology and Projects (ATAP) hardware skunkworks group.
Developers will be able to write apps in Java, C/C++ and with the help of the Unity Game Engines. The company notes that the APIs for the phone remain a work in progress.
Dual-OS running Geeksphone Revolution
The most prominent smartphone manufacturer in Spain, Geeksphone, has officially released its dual-OS running Revolution smartphone.
The hansdet features a 4.7-inch IPS display alongside a dual-core 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor, 4GB of expandable internal memory, 1GB of RAM, and a 8MP primary camera alongside a 1.3MP front-facer. All of this is powered by a 2,000 mAh battery
According to Geeksphone, the dual-booting Revolution will let you switch between Android and Mozilla's browser-centric Firefox OS with a simple 1-touch system. There're also indications that the smartphone will be able to run other mobile OSs as well.The company has already released the revolution smartphone at the proce of 222,31€
First Ubuntu Phones to Launch in 2014
The first smartphones based on a mobile version of Canonical's Ubuntu Linux operating system will be launched this year, the company's CEO said Wednesday.BQ and Meizu, both Chinese phone makers, will produce the phones that will launch "well within" 2014, said Mark Shuttleworth, in a conference call with reporters.Shuttleworth didn't disclose any other details of the phones, but he hinted that the BQ phone would have dual-SIM slots and the Meizu phone would match Ubuntu with Android on a dual-boot system.

Ubuntu is best-known for its desktop and server Linux OS, which has a reputation for being easier to use and install than many other Linux operating systems.Canonical, the company behind the OS, first announced plans for an Ubuntu mobile OS at the beginning of 2013.
Ubuntu is looking to become the number-three platform in the industry.
That would put it ahead of Microsoft's Windows Phone and BlackBerry OS, which are the current third and fourth-ranked platforms behind Android and Apple's iOS
Gionee Elife S5.5 is world's slimmest smartphone at 5.5mm
Gionee, a Chinese smartphone maker, has introduced its slimmest smartphone, dubbed Gionee Elife S5.5. At just 5.5mm thick, the smartphone may just be the slimmest smartphone in the world. The device has been listed for pre-order on the company's China page, at roughly $370 (translating to about Rs. 23,000).
At its thickness, the Gionee Elife S5.5 surpasses the Vivo X3 smartphone, which is 5.75mm thick, and is way thinner than the Xperia Z Ultra which is 6.5mm thick.
The smartphone will runs the company's Amigo UI on top of Android. The Gionee Elife S5.5 features a 5-inch display with no word on its resolution and display quality. The Elife S5.5 is powered by a 1.7GHz quad-core CPU paired with 2GB of RAM. The camera options of the handset include a 13-megapixel rear shooter and a 5-megapixel front camera for video calls.
Maintaining its slim profile, the Gionee Elife S5.5 manages to pack in the same battery as seen in the firm's flagship, Elife E7 - 2300mAh that can run for a whole day in a single charge.
The 3G model of Elife S5.5 is up for pre-order in China, and will be launched in 40 more countries globally. Engadget reports the LTE version of the Elife S5.5 will arrive in June.
Gionee on Monday launched two new Android smartphones in India. The Gionee M2 and the Gionee Gpad G4 have been are priced at Rs. 10,999 and Rs. 18,999 respectively, as per their listing on the company's India page. Both the dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) smartphones run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
HTC One Leaked In Gold With Dual Camera And Twin Flash
HTC is set to unveil its next-generation flagship phone, and all indications are that it will continue what it has accomplished with last year’s HTC One, but with some tweaks and enhancements to push things forward. A new leaked image reveals that the new One could be very similar indeed to the old One on the outside, albeit with improvements to the camera system.
The press shot depicts an HTC One that looks like the aluminum device HTC released last year, but with a gold tint (it’s said to be launching in gold, silver and gray). Also noteworthy are the twin camera lenses on the back of the device, which include the larger primary one found on current models and the smaller one at the top of the case. There’s also a dual LED flash next to the main lens, which you might recognize from the similar setup on Apple’s own iPhone 5s, and more rounded corners, plus what looks like a wraparound metallic bezel, as compared to the plastic edging on the existing HTC One.

BlackBerry's first BB10-powered full-touch phone Z3 has made appearance online,
BlackBerry-focused website N4BB.com has published the images of the device codenamed Jakarta. The report claims that the device, which was first revealed by BlackBerry CEO John Chen during the company's earnings call in December, is likely to be showcased at Mobile World Congress that starts February 24.
Another BlackBerry focused website, BBin.in has published specifications of BlackBerry Z3. According to the website, the phone will sport a 5-inch LCD display with a 540 X 960p resolution. It will be powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 1,5GB RAM, as per the report. The phone will sport a 5MP rear camera and a 1.1MP front-facing camera and a 2,650mAh non-removable battery.
